Submit New Article | Print |

ARTICLES are a key feature of this site. Think of them as mini containers of information; each one has a title and some text. This item is entitled "Submit New Article" and you are reading its text.

Click on the Submit New Article link in the Add Content Links box to the left. (To have these instructions pop up in a separate window so you can see them while you're adding an item, click the Print link above next to the item title.)

  • In the EDITOR box of the SUBMIT AN ARTICLE page, enter a TITLE and then enter your TEXT in the word processing window below it. Note that you have many familiar formatting tools to make your article look and feel the way you want, including inserting photos, tables, and hyperlinks. Hover on the icons to learn more about what each one does.
  • In the PUBLISHING box:
    • Select the right SECTION and CATEGORY; each working group has its own section and the following categories:
      • Select ACTION ITEM if you want this item to appear in the workgroup's Action Items box.
      • Select BULLETIN if you want to post this item on the workgroup's Bulletin Board.
      • Select HOME if you want to post this item on the workgroup's Home Page (this is reserved for the steering committee)
    • Set the PUBLISHED option to YES (Set it to NO if you're not finished with it and don't want it to appear publicly on the site, you can come back later and set published to YES).
    • Set the SHOW ON FRONT PAGE option to NO
    • Leave AUTHOR ALIAS blank
    • START PUBLISHING should usually be today's date. The article will not appear until after the start date. You can set a start date in the future to have the item appear starting on that day.
    • FINISH PUBLISHING should usually be blank. The article will not appear after the finish date. You can set a finish date to have the item automatically be "taken down" from the website by a given date.
    • ACCESS LEVEL should usually be PUBLIC; if you choose REGISTERED, only those who are logged in can see your item.
    • METADATA are used for searching; although the full content of your article is searched, so this can be left alone.
